Presented by Dr. Suzanne Banas, NBCT

Dr. Banas is a Nationally Board Certified Teacher and is semi-retired after 40 years as a secondary science teacher.

She is an adjunct professor for Miami Dade College where she teaches upper division courses in the Education Bachelors Program. She is a leader in STEM/STEAM integration.

Dr. Banas has earned many honors over the years, most recently as a finalist for the 2022 National Teacher Hall of Fame. Other honors include 2021 Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Education Teacher of the Year for the South East Region and 2021 AIAA Educator Achievement Award Winner.

Dr. Banas has a deep love of anything artistic as she is from an artistic family. During covid, she discovered a love of lapidary arts and is passionate about cabbing.  As part of the Miami Mineralogical and Lapidary Guild, she blends her love of being a Rock Nerd with science to bring presentations and activities to be enjoyed by all.
